SINGARAJA IN COLONIAL DAYS
First we go to the harbour.
When having a drink on the pier, our story starts in 1597, the first Dutch in Buleleng and ends with the memorial statue on the quay.
We inform you about the volatile position of the Balinese Chinese, and visit the Chinese temple.
Then we go to the Historical Library. They close at 12 oçlock. But it is not far.The treasure of the library are the thousands of Lontar documents. Unique in the world!
We are kicked out, they close! But there is a nice restaurant at the sea. We go there for lunch.
The rest of the afternoon we spend in the Buddhist Monastery in Banjar. This complex is more than interesting: it is spiritual, beautiful. Bhuddism is an existing part of the Balinese religion.
